PNLL Coronavirus Update

Coronavirus Update

Greetings PNLL Community,

With the news of the increasing spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), we want to inform you that we are taking this situation seriously and have been in constant contact with LL District 35 and LL International. We are monitoring the situation closely, and ask that you follow the guidelines set forth by the World Health Organization (WHO), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Sonoma County Public Health Department and any other local authorities including area school districts and other government agencies.

In an effort to lesson the risk of transmission, we ask that you follow the best practices as outlined by the CDC, which include washing hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds (if soap and water are not available, use alcohol-based hand sanitizer): avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands; and avoid unnecessary close contact with people who are sick. Also, if you or your child ar ill; have a fever, cough, or respiratory condition; have a compromised immune system; are in any other group that may be at an increased risk of contracting a virus like coronavirus; or have recently traveled to a country listed on the CDC’s Risk Assessment by Country, we encourage you or your child to refrain from Little League-related activities until cleared by your healthcare provider. We have placed two portable hand washing stations in front of the snack shack. Please encourage your children to wash their hands often but not use the hand washing stations as a play area. We will continue to monitor the water/soap levels and refill as needed. Here are some other precautionary measures you and your family can take while at the fields…

●Do not high five or shake hands with each other. The best option at the end of the game is to line up and just say “good game” to each other without the handshake. Please don’t skip the post-game line-up as that is what makes Little League so special.
● Don’t share equipment including bats, gloves, catchers masks unless they have been thoroughly sanitized.
● Encourage all players to wash their hands before/after games and practices.
● All Snack Shack workers will wear gloves at all times and when handling food will put a food handling glove over the existing glove.

There are new boxes of gloves in the shack. We will provide updates related to these new measures or let you know about any additional precautions to take if and when they become necessary.

Thank you,

Jonathan Ganley PNLL
